Directionless Doodles: A New Adventure

A “chaotic” collage of some of the directional doodles that have appeared upon my page this last year.

After a year of playing with the idea, I’m excited (and a little nervous!) to share that I’m opening my very own Etsy shop—Directionless Doodles! This creative venture has been a long time coming, and it’s finally taking shape, albeit with a touch of chaos – for a “chaotic creative” how else could it unfold really?!

The name Directionless Doodles reflects my creative process. I don’t plan where a piece is going—I just start making marks and let the creative flow take over – the blank page disappears and the ink lines evolve into something I never expected.

Sometimes I add colour with watercolour paints or digitally – depending on the mess of life at the time and what is easiest to grab. It’s my way of escaping the everyday whirlwind of life-ing as a mum to two kids, managing allergy needs, creating the children allergy resources I am in the midst of (how that came about is a story that I need to share – one day soon!), and working in the mental health and disability advocacy space.

Taking the Leap

For the longest time, I hesitated to share my art, let alone try to sell it. It’s personal and vulnerable, and putting it out there felt daunting. But over the past year, I’ve been experimenting, learning, and most importantly, growing. I’ve taught myself how to scan and digitize my doodles, adapt designs for products, and envision what they might look like on everything from prints to clothing. It’s still a work in progress, but I feel ready now to try this next step on.

What’s Next?

Right now, the Etsy shop is coming together piece by piece. My Directionless Doodles Instagram handle is up and running, and I’m using it to share behind-the-scenes glimpses of this journey. My vision is to offer a mix of:

  • Original artworks that capture the raw energy of my doodles.
  • Wood-burned creations that bring my designs to life in a whole new way.
  • Digitally adapted designs for prints, cards, and (eventually) other products.

I also hope to bring some of these pieces to our local markets. There’s something special about connecting with people in person and seeing how my art resonates with them.

Why Now?

Opening this shop feels like the right next step, even if it’s not fully polished yet. Directionless Doodles is more than a creative outlet—it’s a reminder that it’s okay to start where you are, even if you’re still figuring things out. For me, it’s about leaning into the creative process, embracing the chaos, and seeing where this journey takes me.

Thank you for following along and supporting this little dream of mine. Whether you’re here for a doodle, a splash of colour, or just to cheer me on, I’m so grateful to have you here.

Stay tuned for shop updates, product sneak peeks, and a whole lot of doodly goodness!
